I want this post to serve as a reminder to myself & anyone else out there that doing something is always better than doing nothing.
This year, my resolution is to be more sustainable. I'm not going to be perfect at it, but I'm going to try my best to make changes in my life that support this goal.
Some things I will be doing to be more sustainable include:
not using paper plates
not using plastic utensils
not purchasing paper towels
replacing cotton pads/balls/swabs with reusable alternatives
only using reusable straws
recycling as much as possible
bringing my own reusable bags to grocery stores/malls/etc.
meatless mondays (to reduce my carbon footprint & increase my health)
I always felt so much pressure to be perfectly sustainable that I didn't even bother to try. It didn't seem realistic to be 100% sustainable so I felt that I would be failing either way. My mindset changed when someone sent me one of Anne-Marie Bonneau's Tweets.
"We don't need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly."- Anne-Marie Bonneau (@ZeroWasteChef)
This quote reminded me that you don't have to be perfect (it's completely unrealistic), but doing your best has to count for something. So I'm going to do what I can and make changes along the way!
If you have any tips for me, please leave a comment! Or shoot me a DM on Instagram!
This year I wanted to set some goals that I've had in my sights, kind of like a mini, year long bucket list. I've been working on being more honest with myself so I knew that it had to be goals I could physically check off, meaning they would have to be concrete. I decided on 5 goals (plus one blank spot in case I think of something else).
Some of my goals for this year are very personal, so I won't be sharing all of them. But here's a few of them!
Visit the Georgia Aquarium
Visit at least one new country
Save up at least $5,000 in savings account
I feel like all of the goals that I set for this year are attainable for me. I didn't want to set them too high or too low, I think they're at a perfect level to keep me on my toes.
*Also, for anyone wondering why I want to go to the Georgia Aquarium so bad... I love whale sharks (like a lot) and I've always wanted to see one in person. This is one of the only two aquariums in the world that has a whale shark in it. So naturally, I need to go.
I also put together some quotes that have been resonating with me lately. I hope they bring you the same good vibes.
"Stop going the extra mile for people that won't even take 3 steps for you." -Faye Poe

"Life is hard for two reasons: because you're leaving your comfort zone or because you're staying in it." -Lisa Messenger
